Officers Miguel Mijares-Munoz and Deric Maddaleni
Onto the Red Line tracks with one minute to spare
On December 27, a bystander told the two officers that a man had fallen onto the tracks at Central Square station. They ran to the platform, jumped down to the track bed with the third rail still live, and lifted the man back onto the platform about a minute before the next train was due. Body cameras recorded the rescue. The man was expected to be OK, and both officers were recognized at roll call.
