Jury selection was due to begin Monday in the federal retrial of Jonathan Rinderknecht, 30, whom prosecutors accuse of deliberately setting a blaze that grew into one of the deadliest and most destructive wildfires in Los Angeles history, Reuters reported.

His initial three-week trial ended in a hung jury in late June. He faces a scaled-down version of the charges previously brought against him, in U.S. District Court in downtown Los Angeles. He is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
