The Report: facts and sourcing
The UN's World Food Programme says funding shortfalls are forcing it to cut food assistance in Gaza from about 1.6 million people a month to 1.1 million, the WFP and The Guardian reported Monday. NBC News reported that about 500,000 Palestinians will lose aid. The WFP said its funding is down by more than half compared with 2025.
The Guardian reported that the agency needs more than £300 million to keep going for the next six months. Two-thirds of Gaza's population is in IPC Phase 3, the "crisis" level of food insecurity, and about 200,000 people are in Phase 4, "emergency."
One in eight children in Gaza is stunted, The Guardian reported.
