A cyberattack on Monday raised temperature and defrosting thresholds "to extremely high levels" at three cold-storage sites for plasma run by the French Blood Establishment (EFS), the agency said, Euronews reported Wednesday. "No health consequences have been identified and no blood products were lost," the EFS said.
The attack hit a supplier of refrigeration equipment. Monitoring and alarm systems quickly detected the anomalies, and the plasma, intended for transfusions and for making medicines, was moved or secured, the EFS said. Blood collection and distribution continue uninterrupted. France's national cybersecurity agency and Health Ministry are investigating.
Supermarkets in several European countries reported this week that their fridges and freezers warmed up after being remotely taken over, spoiling tonnes of food, Euronews reported.
