Russia bombed a school used to distribute humanitarian aid in Komyshuvakha, a village in Ukraine's southern Zaporizhzhia region, and then a nearby shelter, killing at least 29 people, The Guardian reported Tuesday, citing regional officials. Mykhailo Semikin, acting head of the regional military administration, said 48 people were missing and the dead included four police officers and two rescue workers.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the Russians could not have been unaware that residents gathered at the site each week for aid packages. He said Russia launched 289 drones, 17 ballistic missiles and 59 cruise missiles overnight across nine regions, noting the barrage coincided with U.S. elections. In Kharkiv, at least 62 people were wounded, local authorities said.
U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff said Monday that U.S.-mediated talks between Ukraine and Russia will be held in Abu Dhabi on Nov. 10-11.
