Ukraine Says Military Starlink Service Is Back After Sudden Limits Disrupted Drone Missions
Kyiv says it had no warning before speed limits cut off drones above about 100 mph. Elon Musk says the military system is controlled by the US government.

Ukraine's Defense Ministry said speed limits placed overnight on Oct. 14 on Starshield, the military version of SpaceX's Starlink service, cut connections for drones and vehicles moving faster than about 160 km/h (100 mph), disrupting interceptor and mid-range strike drone missions, the BBC and Kyiv Post reported.
On Thursday, a Defense Ministry source told the Kyiv Independent that service on the move had been restored and was working, while Kyiv still seeks an explanation. Elon Musk wrote on X that Starshield systems are "owned and controlled by the US government" and any limits are up to the US military and the president, CNN reported.
Al Jazeera reports that President Volodymyr Zelensky told the Financial Times that US officials had warned Kyiv intelligence could be withheld unless attacks on Russian energy sites stopped. "It was not a technical problem; it was the will," Zelensky said. The White House has not publicly explained the restrictions.
