Israel's Central Elections Committee chairman, Supreme Court Justice Noam Sohlberg, said Monday evening that the results of last week's Knesset election will be published as scheduled, Anadolu Agency reported, citing Israel Hayom. Likud had demanded an urgent committee meeting on suspicions of foreign interference before certification.
Netanyahu and right-wing parties in his bloc have alleged fraud and manipulation in voting within Israel's Arab community. Those allegations have not been proven. Opposition leader Gadi Eisenkot of the Yashar party wrote on X that Likud and Netanyahu were waging "a destructive and violent attack aimed at delegitimizing the election results and the Central Elections Committee."
Netanyahu's bloc won 53 seats, the Jewish opposition parties 48 and the Arab parties 19, according to Anadolu. President Isaac Herzog's consultations with Knesset factions are scheduled to begin Wednesday before he picks a lawmaker to try to form a government, who would then have 28 days, with a possible 14-day extension.
