Jacob Morley, who was serving a life sentence for first-degree murder, was captured around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday near Norborne, Missouri, about an hour from Kansas City, more than a week after escaping a Tennessee prison, CBS News reported, citing the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Investigators received a tip Tuesday morning that Morley had been hiding in a shed at a hunting camp near Marion, Illinois, and that a truck had been stolen from the property, the TBI said. Tennessee authorities alerted Missouri after Flock camera footage suggested he was traveling through the state. The AP reported troopers and a helicopter tracked him until the truck got stuck in mud. Three firearms previously reported stolen were recovered from the truck, authorities said.
Morley, 28, slipped through a fence at the Northwest Correctional Complex in Tiptonville on Oct. 25, according to the Tennessee Department of Correction. He was convicted in the 2022 killing of a co-worker.
